Now that you’ve logged into the platform, it’s time to start adding inventory. Please know that the system you’re about to use is one of the first major items on our list to upgrade in the near future. In the near term, we want to allow you to use formatted CSV files to upload inventory in bulk, but we understand that making that process accessible to everyone has inherent challenges.
That’s why when we built the system you’ll see in FFLStockSwap, we tried to include as much help for you in the add inventory process as we could. Our team has a resident gunsmith who added manufacturers, calibers and other key pieces of information so that the form will “auto-complete.” This is designed to make adding inventory faster.
Now, let’s get into how this works.
Firstly, as mentioned above, auto-complete is your friend.
While you can add new labels to certain fields, make sure that it doesn’t already exist.
1. From your dashboard page, click on “Add New Inventory,” the big orange button at the top left.
2. You’ll see a page with the Big Five categories listed in grey.
These categories are the five categories available on FFLStockSwap. If you have additional categories you’d like to see added in the future, let us know.
PRO TIP
When you get to swapping, you can always offer accessories or other products as “cash equivalents” and message with the other party to figure out a fair exchange.
3. Click on the category for the product you’d like to add. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll be using a shotgun as our example product. After you’ve clicked on your category, you’ll see the fields where you can add the product information:
4. Click on the “Shotgun Manufacturer” field and type the first few letter of the shotgun’s manufacturer. You should see a box drop down that populates with shotgun manufacturers that are pre-loaded into our system. If you see one that matches your shotgun’s manufacturer, select it! We’re trying to keep the system information as clean as possible.
5. Continue clicking through the fields and entering the relevant information as you go. You do not need to include any symbols like ” # or similar. The system will do this automatically.
Once you reach the point highlighted in green on the image below, you’ll have some choices to make.
6. Select the product condition.
7. Within the section highlighted in red you can check the categories of items you wish to accept in exchange for this listing. All categories are checked by default.
8. Within the section highlighted in yellow you can enter or copy and paste text to create a description for your product.
9. The button highlighted in blue will allow you to add images to your product listing. When you click on this button, you’ll see this pop-up interface:
To add new images, click on the green tab as seen highlighted above and follow the instructions to upload images.
To use existing images in your media library, click on the images you wish to use and then click on Select in the bottom-right hand corner.
10. After you’ve added images, click on Preview Listing to generate a preview of what your listing will look like on FFLStockSwap. Your preview will appear below the button.
11. If you’re okay with everything you see in your listing preview, click on the orange button marked “Submit Listing” to save your product. Your inventory will not be added until you submit your listing!
